How To Survive Med School

Here are some tips I've tried to make it in Medicine. Along the way, you'll discover what might work for you and forming a habit is the not-so-good part of it. The beginning is always the hardest but once you get the hang of it, everything may seem to work in place.

1. Have a good night sleep.

Managing to stay awake seems impossible especially if you were given tons of chapters to read. Based on my experience, no matter how hard I try to remember those if I haven't had enough sleep, I still have hard time analyzing theories. 6-8 hours of sleep is a must for proper mental functioning especially during examination.

2. Time management.

Easy to say but hard to apply. Just make a schedule of your daily activities and appointments. Stay organized to keep track of the important things to do.

3. Eat healthy.

Avoid junk foods. Load more on fruits and rehydrate as well. Small frequent meals are advisable for eating a lot will just make you sleepy (and your grades, too).

4. Avoid distractions.

Turn phones, facebook, instagram, ipad, all gadgets off. If you can't handle it, at least switch them to silent mode then you can check them during your break from studying (every 2 hours) just to stay sane.

5. Avoid studying near your bed.

Bed is the best magnet in the world. It attracts the human body. BEWARE!

6. Do not cram.

Study in advance. Every day after your class, try to browse your topic. A week before scheduled examination, read, read, and read.

7. Pray.
